Who We Are...
There's no denying it--the tradition of floor hockey runs deep in Bucktown.
Since 1969, the Buchanan Floor Hockey League has provided thousands of Buchanan kids with a positive and competitive athletic activity to keep them moving during the cold winter months. With over 300 kids participating each season, the league is divided into five different divisions (determined by grade and gender) and teams play a schedule of six regular season games. The end of the season is marked by a league tournament to determine the championship team for each division. The coaches are all volunteers and the league receives a tremendous amount of support from the local community including team sponsorship by area businesses. In February of 2016, a Buchanan Floor Hockey Board was created with a mission to carry on this treasured tradition of our town for generations to come. To achieve our mission, the BFHB depends on a tremendous amount of support from our local community along with assistance from the Buchanan Community School System and BHS Athletic Department. Without the generous contributions of volunteers, private individuals, former players, and business sponsorships, our program would simply not be possible. The Buchanan Floor Hockey League strives to provide an equal opportunity for all children to play organized floor hockey. We firmly believe that through hockey, children can develop character, sportsmanship, a sense of teamwork, and commitment. Our primary goal is to allow all players to reach their potential and have fun learning to love the game. Go Bucks! |
